TX to MN - Part #3 of Drive 2012

On Sunday, May 27 we headed NORTH, for Part 3 of our Drive 2011.

Sunday May 27, we drove (30 photos) to Ennis TX to visit Dianne's sister Juli and her family (30 photos). We had a great time visiting with Juli, her daughters xx, Amy, and Sarah, their partners TJ, xx, and xx, and Juli's grand-daughters Heavyn, JoJo, and Timmy. Dianne read stories to the girls, the girls went swimming, and we all enjoyed BBQ cooked up by TJ and Matt. What fun!
Monday May 28, we drove (40 photos + 10 postal photos) to Sulphur Springs TX to visit Martha's cousin Carolyn and husband Tom. In Sulphur Springs, we had lunch (24 photos) at son Scott's Muddy Jake's Sports Grille and Bar (web site), and then went to see his newest pet project, the Happy Ass Farm (30 photos + check out Martha's YouTube video with musical accompaniment!). What a delight! Since we were in the neighborhood, we drove on to Lake Elberta, just to see how everything was, and found it as serene and scenic as we remembered. Returning to Sulphur Springs, we stopped at Town Square (12 photos) to see the Hopkins County Courthouse. For dinner we had pizza and salad (12 photos). What a meal!
Tuesday May 29 Tom and Jake demonstrated (9 photos) "Fetching the Paper", and here is a video we're sure you won't want to miss! After spending a mellow morning with Carolyn and Tom, we got an unexpected delight: Carolyn served us Aunt Katherine's Strawberry Shortcake. DELICIOUS!! In the afternoon, we drove to LD's Animal Park (40 photos) - and had quite an adventure in trying to find it! On the way back to Carolyn and Tom's, we drove through the Sulphur Springs Country Club (16 photos). For dinner, we treated Carolyn and Tom at San Remo, "our favorite Sulphur Springs restaurant. In the morning, Tom and Carolyn gave us a fine send-off. Thanks, once again, for a wonderful time!
Wednesday May 30, we drove from Sulphur Spring to Tonganoxie KS, to visit Martha's cousin Steve.
Thursday May 31, we again drove to Kansas City, but this time it was purely to to tour the city. And what a tour we had. Steve drove us to the xxx and then the xxx. Next we drove by a sign announcing the KS Museum of History at the xx mansion. We liked what we saw, and decided to take the tour.
