ABOUT THIS WEB
COIN 63 - Foothill College, Fall 2008 - Final Project
I am a student of Sandi Watkins' Advanced Technologies class, COIN 63, taken at Foothill College during the Fall 2008 quarter. This web is a result of my efforts during that quarter.
On the other hand, this web is REALLY the result of many years of study, in which I have frantically tried to learn enough web techniques to be able to showcase my mother's "family classic", Marian's Favorite Recipes. She created this document for us in the summer of 2002, as part of her genealogical endeavors, and I have long sought to translate it into a web-viewable document that ALL of her friends and family can enjoy for years to come. In fact, here's an earlier re-incarnation of this website, and an even earlier document.
The importance of this document has only increased in the subsequent years. Since early May, Marian and Phil have hired outside caregivers from HomeInstead to help them manage their daily lives. At 92 and 94, they have reached the maximum of their independent living skills, and have grown dependent on many others to help them make it through the day. One of the ways this has happened is that the caregivers have used Marian's Favorite Recipes to prepare Mom and Dad meals that they are familiar with, that they enjoy, and that nourish their body AND soul.
During the fall of 2008, Marian decided to move into an assisted living studio apartment at Sunrise of Roseville. In fact, I very nearly didn't finish this quarter due to the 3 weeks I took to help move my mother into Sunrise. Nevertheless, the urgency of this project has borne down on me, and I want to "race against the wind" in order to produce this web while my mother and father are still alive, and "with it".
I hope you have enjoyed this website. Please feel free to contact me, or my mother, with any comments, recipes, photos, and/or stories to share with us. Marian and Phil also have their own blog (though truth to tell, 'tis I who does most of the blogging!).
