Part 1: change the names of your index.html files as follows:

• Open the site window.
• Click in the local folder pane.
• Select any files you have named index.html. You may have an index.html file in each of your folders. Be certain to find all your index.html files.
• Right click on the index.html file name in the local folder of the site window and rename each index.html file zzz.html.

If you have defined your sites properly in lesson 2, you should get a dialogue box asking if you want DW to update all your links. I have only one file linked to my sample index page here but you will have 3-5 pages. Click Update.

When you click Update, DW will find all the pages that link to your original index.html file and replace the link information with the name of the new zzz.html file. This will be written in the source code. If your text links say - index|content|about us|contact|products - the text index on the page in design view will not be changed. The links will be changed. You have to go into each page to change the text link.

***From this point on in the course DO NOT NAME ANY FILES index.html. This may seem a strange request because most web hosts will require you to name your home page index.html, however when you name any page index.html on our UNIX server, it disables the ability of the instructors from being able to review your directory structure. If I am unable to see into your UNIX account, I will not be able to evaluate your work and your understanding of site management and you will not receive credit for your work.

Part 2: 3-5 linked web pages with required formatted content - submitted to UNIX accounts, then have your code review. On the index.html page write the assignment number or name such as Homework 3, and the name(s) of the classmate(s) who reviewed your code. Submit the zzz.html URL to the Assignments link of ETUDES appropriately selecting the Submit as Web Page radio button. 

At the end of the course after I have graded your finals, you can change the zzz.html files back to index.html and upload to your own server space off the school's server (UNIX) account. Of course DW will ask you if you want to update the links and you'll say Update and everything will work just fine.

You'll be submitting 3-5 of these pages. (at least 3 linked pages)

Work in your hw site and include the following in at least 1 of the 3 pages you submit for homework:

• an ordered list
• an unordered list
• 3 external links (to pages outside your site) - these must function and link to real sites
• 2 named anchor links, 1 to a different place on the same page as the link and 1 to a named anchor on another page in your site (submit all linked pages)
• formatted content using the PI only
  • 2 headings
  • 2 font faces
  • 2 font sizes
  • 2 font colors
  • 2 font physical styles (bold and italic)
  • one of each paragraph alignment (left, center, right, justify) and one indent

Include on all pages:

• an email link with a functioning email address formatted content using the PI only
• 2 images on each page (don't worry about the alignment of image and text yet)
• View the Code View to familiarize yourself with some of the HTML tags. Although this is not an HTML class, the more you learn HTML the more control you will have over your ability to layout and format your documents. It will also assist you to clean up unnecessary code that for some reason won't be removed using the graphical user interface (GUI) tools.
