2 c white sugar 1 T butter 1 c white Karo syrup 1 t vanilla 2 c raw shelled Spanish peanuts 2 t soda ½ c waterCook sugar, syrup and water together in 4-quart saucepan until it forms a hard ball (280 degrees). Add butter and peanuts. Cook on low heat for about 15 minutes, stirring constantly until the peanuts begin to brown. Remove from fire. Add soda and vanilla. Stir rapidly until light and foamy turns to a brown color. Pour quickly on 2 greased cookie sheets, and spread with a knife to edges. As it cools around the edges, pull and stretch thin. Cool rapidly (I put it outside, in the wintertime, of course).
