I had several tracks that I mixed down. The dogs, 3 different elephant tracks, the gecko, one of ambient Thai birds, the river, and the children for a total of 8. I started with the ambient birds background and then put in the river and added in the elephants, spaced apart in the way that sounded most like how I remembered them "talking" to each other. I adjusted one elephant track (the last one of the baby and his mom) so that it would sound like they were further down the river by following the directions in the reader and using the dots to shrink down the volume there. I then added the dogs which was a short track so I copied it to double the length and edited it for sound flow by trimming out the parts between them that faded in and out. I layered the children over the end of the dogs and adjusted the volume of the ambient track so they could be heard better and then Mr. Gecko made his appearance. i did a lot of tweaking by clipping certain tracks shorter, moving them around the timeline, adjusting the volume so that it would all make sense to my ears. I then added a fade out at the end. I also normalized it at -3dB as suggested. In all, I spent about 6 hours on it, excluding time spent finding the sound files on the web. I look forward to hearing everyone's sound projects! I really enjoyed using Audacity. |

I selected various clips to illustrate the graphic files I made earlier in the course. From these, I chose audio 10 files to include. I found a tutorial online about adding music to a podcast, so that's what I did. This copy is version 4. The process was not easy, and I'm not 100% pleased, but I think I made good use of some of Audacity's tools. I used Fade In and Fade Out, Noise Removal, the selection tool, the Time Shift tool, the envelope tool, and made stereo tracks out of mono tracks (which I mistakenly created from the original stereo!). The good news is that I finally have my new computers set up. In the process, I reconnected my old AIWA sound system, Altec speakers, and Maxell headphones. I'm ready to begin...

This was very different and I liked that! It reminded me of the kind of multi-media presentation you would find at a modern art gallery. Especially the first half. Very creative.
