Here we are past the halfway point -- Week 10! The semester is really moving along.
There are three tasks for the week.
1. A basic audio quiz worth 10 points.
2. A forum to tell us what audio software and the version you are using to edit your soundscape (worth 2 points).
3. Editing your audio project.
You know the drill for the first two tasks of the week - quiz and forum, so here is more about task #3: Editing your audio project.
By now, you should have a list of sounds for a soundscape. This includes actual sound files. You will edit sound files in an audio project using either Audacity (instructions found in the Course Reader) or any other audio editing software that you may have and prefer to use. I have another link for this week titled "Digital Audio Editor Tutorials" which will be useful if you are using something other than Audacity.
You will edit your various sound files (AKA audio tracks) into a streamlined soundscape (project). All extraneous sounds should be trimmed out of each track which allows you to tailor your soundscape in any way you like and you can add sound effects like Reverb, Delay, or even Pitch Shift to enhance the audio tracks.
Be sure that you make your soundscape be a part of the environment that you are trying to create. Reverb is a sound effect that will prove very useful for this as it creates the sound of acoustic space and makes your recorded audio sound as if it's in a larger or smaller acoustic space than it was recorded in. IMPORTANT NOTE: YOU DON'T HAVE TO SEND ME A FINAL MIXDOWN OF YOUR PROJECT THIS WEEK -- that's for next week.
Read the Course Reader pages 125 - 130 and work to complete your audio soundscape to prepare it for the final mixdown.
