Martha's intro
Hi, I'm Martha, and I’m glad this class has finally started! I took BCST 119 last semester, and have taken various online classes from CCSF and Foothill, mainly in web development. I’m a retired letter carrier, actively engaged in Union and retiree organizations. My hobbies are reading, writing, photography, and travel. My goal is to use more audio and video on our narfe65.org and facebook.com/narfe65 webpages. Another goal is to edit and upload family video, photos, and audio.
As for favorite podcasts, here’s a link to Financial Times’ Lucy Kellaway called “Small Talk Makes a Big Difference: http://podcast.ft.com/index.php?pid=2101. I love her voice, her quirky but useful tips, her examples, her use of research, and her delivery. Another favorite of mine for airplane rides are the video podcasts of Terry White: https://www.youtube.com/user/terrywhitetechblog.
Hi, Martha!
Welcome! Some fun links there in your post and a great way to jump in. This should be right up your alley to find ways in the course to utilize in your non-profit group work. That's exciting to know what you'll want to have for your final output. Getting the content together is the big part and the most fun, but you know the audience you're tapping already and THAT is a big head start.
Dana
Hi Martha,
I enjoyed your podcast, in fact I thought it was so informative, that I shared it on my facebook. I tried to view Terry White video on you tube but was unable to. Do I have to download it first? There were other informative you tubes which were tutorials to lighthouse, creative cloud and so forth. I hope that you are taking all those classes here at City, writing, photography and all. I was wondering how long have National Active Federation Employees been in existence? I also, think that you will have fun also, as Dana stated. Enjoy.
Hi Bridgid - glad you liked my links! Here's one for a good Terry White video podcast: - how to edit videos in Photoshop CC or 6. I couldn't find an audio by Terry, because I couldn't download iTunes - I'll try again later. Anyway, he's got a wonderful voice, and his instructions are very precise - and the tips are amazing.
Wow, I didn't expect that link to actually install the video!
Thank you Martha, great video.
Thanks for the links - listening to Lucy was great! Shows how a good voice and interesting/entertaining dialogue (content) is all one really needs. She pulls it off with just the basics. I also really like the Terry White does instructional videos - some that I will definitely use.

I also liked all of your links like everyone else and especially your work on narfe65.org and all of the information your group provides. Great job.
Lucy was a good find and I will add her to my iTunes podacst list.
I like those types of podcasts that can have some information with some humor that makes everything more interesting.
The Terry White videos I will also subscribe to.
I like to use YouTube for all types of lessons from cooking to programming and it is impossible to find all of the best ones unless you get pointers from others on where they are. Thanks for that.
Glad so many liked those links. I'm a sucker for a good voice. And YouTube - I'm a daily fan!
