On Tuesday, June 16 we arrived in St. Paul, where we spent 15 days visiting FAMILY and FRIENDS. While there we went to WHERE, did WHAT, and saw WHOM. Here are some photographic highlights with links to separate slideshows.
- Tuesday, June 16 we had dinner with Jan, Lorraine, and Merrily at Glockenspiel.
- Wednesday, June 17 we met Gordon for lunch at Noodles & Co. in Roseville.
- Thursday, June 18 we moved to Lorraine's for 3 nights. The hotels of St. Paul were booked for the weekend due to the Antique Car Show. In the evening we joined Merrily and Lorraine at the Bakken Museum to see the Botanical Art opening.
- Friday, June 19 we did laundry and worked on the computer. For breakfast/lunch, we ate at the Highland Cafe two blocks away.
- Saturday, June 20 we spent a memorable day with Lorraine and Merrily. First stop was the Marjorie McNeely Conservatory, which was celebrating 100 years in Como Park. We had lunch at the Zobota Cafe, and then Lorraine treated us to a ride on Cafesjian's Carousel. After an excursion to Costco to buy Merrily an external hard drive, we went to her condo for tea and cookies, and saw disc one of her slides from Burma. Dinner was at Noodles on Hennepin Ave, where we met Lorraine's sons Martin and Bevan, before walking to see "Love and Mercy" at the Stone Arch Cinema at St. Anthony Main.
- Sunday, June 21 we visited Jan briefly before going to Gordon and Sandi's for BBQ lunch. Around 3pm we checked in to our new quarters, at the Quality Inn in Arden Hills.
- Monday, June 22 we met Ann and Wayne Sisel at Chili's for lunch at 1 pm. Did we go to Jan's at 4pm?
- Tuesday, June 23 we went to Cindy and Bob's for lunch at 12 noon. We were AMAZED at the amount of work they've done in transforming their new/old house. A delicious meal of homemade tacos, an afternoon of relaxation in the lawn, and marvelous conversation made it an enjoyable day. In the evening we had a quick dinner at Rosedale Mall before attending an hour workshop at the Apple Store on using iCloud. It still confuses us, but maybe a little less so.
- Wednesday, June 24 we met Lorraine at the Minnesota History Center at 10 am to see the Hmong in Minnesota exhibit. We ate lunch there, and then drove to Har Mar Mall to meet Patti Vasilakes at Barnes and Noble Cafe, and had a good time seeing her photos from Scotland. For dinner we met Lorraine at Merrily's and then drove together to Friends Cafe, and enjoyed a delicious meal of Thai and Burmese food. Afterwards we drove to the Dairy Queen on Lexington and had ice cream sundaes.
- Thursday, June 25 we met Merrily and drove together to her storage locker to pick up 4 chairs and a box of toys. We dropped the chairs off at Goodwill and then ate lunch at Perkins. After dropping Merrily off, we drove to Mississippi River Road to visit Lynette, and also saw her son Victor.
