Plug-ins / Players

Plug-ins (sometimes referred to as players) are small applications or "helpers" which give your browser additional functionality. You can find information about the plug-in applications that are already installed in your browser by choosing the EDIT menu and then choosing Preferences, In Netscape, click Navigator/Applications. In IE, click Receiving Files//File Helpers. A list of all the helper applications will appear. Some come with the browser and some you must download from the vendor. Almost all plug-ins are provided free from their vendors.

This site works best with Version 4.0 or higher of Netscape Navigator or Internet Explorer. For best results, install the following plug-ins: Adobe Acrobat Reader, Quicktime and RealAudio. Click the icons below for access to the various vendors and download instructions. For most plug-ins, you will be asked to fill out a form, which usually asks for your name, email address, platform, connection speed and other information. Some vendors will have much of the information filled in for you (the information is supplied from your browser when it "hits" their site).

Remember, after downloading most plug-ins, you must quit your browser and install the plug-in. Then, re-load the browser. Plug-ins are loaded when the browser is launched.
