NARFE Chapter 65 - Photo Montage 2006 - an explanation!
To creat the photo montage:
- I laid out 6 layers on the page with the following pixel placements:
- the left layer, with dimensions of left 229, top 290, width 127, and height 350
- the four layers that hold the larger photos are all sized for photos 280 wide and 210 high;
the distance from the top is 430 from the left, and 360 from the top
- On the layers thumbnail I inserted 5 image placeholders.
- I selected my photos:
- 5 that were made web-ready with PhotoShop, and sized at 280 X 210
- 5 were made into thumbnails: 75 wide by 100 px high.
- To see all the layers I gave them different background colors. As I added pictures, I removed the image placedholders and the background colors.
Next, I connected each thumbnail photo to their respective large photo. Then, to get the photos to show and hide themselves, I initially set all of the photo properties (that is, the layer properties of the space they occupied) to be "invisibile". For each layer I added two "behaviors": On mouse over, I added the behavior of "visibility"; on mouse out, I reapplied the behavior of invisibility. And there you have it! When I was all done, I added the text layer, and positioned it by trial and error, the same as I did with all the other layers.
Here's what the property inspector shows for layer 7, the text layer
