For this first week will get started with a few different, but small assignments.

For this week numero UNO:
1) There will be ONE forum titled TRIO FORUM for you to post THREE DIFFERENT THINGS, so be sure to do all three of these!
  • Introduce yourself!  Let us know who you are, any nickname you like to be called if not your name we see posted on Insight which is your officially registered name, and why you're taking this class. (worth 2 points)
  • Please research video podcasts (or "vodcasts" which was the hot word for a minute) using iTunes (or alternatives) and serial web programs (webisodes) using YouTube (or alternatives). Post your 2 selections in your forum post and tell us what you liked about them.  Here's an example of a successful web series called SanFranLand by Ryan Lynch (and some of her Pixar cohorts). And if you haven't seen the new TV show "COSMOS" with Neil DeGrasse Tyson, CHECK OUT THE WEBPAGE HERE. (A screenshot from the homepage is this week's opening graphic image.) cool  (This part is worth 3 points)
  • Check and post in the forum the kind of camera and editing equipment you'll be able to have access to (borrowing works for this too). What camera will you shoot with and what editing software do you have?  Part of the course is you creating a video podcast episode and that means you'll need some gear.  Yes, your smartphone will work fine.
2) Read the lecture - part of 1 of "Understanding Video 1" (authored by my colleague in the BEMA department and video expert, Misha Antonich).  If you're in the 119 online course, this is the very same one, but many of you are not in the online version of that class, so definitely read it!
3) There are some new companies cropping up that provide interesting video creation capabilities.  Check out both FLIXPRESS and Fuel 451. Watch the Flixpress opening video and this one here on their Getting Started link.   What's the difference between the two sites?  (Your short answer to my email address dlabrecq@ccsf.edu earns you 2 extra points!)
So, let's get started!
