Week 4 Assignments - Underdstanding Graphics - BCST 119

WEEK 4! - And you're all rested and reset after the holiday, right?

OK, here is something cool: NO QUIZ THIS WEEK! How is that for celebration?
So, we do have an assignment that was posted last week that you have more time to work on now since there is no quiz and that is the DREAM SYSTEM ASSIGNMENT. Be sure to go back and check it out if you haven't started on it yet. It's due 9/15 and though that seems far away, the assignment asks for you to do a good bit of work to make it look great and flow well.

WE ARE NOW ON TO GRAPHICS - WOOT!
Do you have any graphics editing software?
Adobe Photoshop is the typically used software for image editing and compositing while Illustrator is Adobe's vector graphics and illustration software. NOW, it's all available to you in "the cloud". (Cloud computing defined in the hyperlink.)

If you have not do not own any image editing software then there are options:
  • GIMP is a free software that utilizes many of the functions of Photoshop and the GUI even looks similar!
  • Adobe Creative Cloud - Photoshop CC though it's now a cloud-based monthly fee to use the software, you can get a trial for 30-days for free!
You'll need one of these or some other software that is used for image editing to work on this first big project!

  • Please read pages 75-84 from the Course Reader
  • NEW Assignment - Graphics Project script and storyboard (This is part one of three parts for the graphic assignment. Part one is due next Sunday.) Thoroughly read PROJECT ONE: Graphics and do the script and storyboard for this week. It's worth 10-points. (See Single Frame Storyboard and 6-Frame Storyboard templates in this week's Insight to download and use.)
  • Remember that on 9/15 your Dream System is due as well, but it's always OK to turn it in early!
LET THE GAMES BEGIN!
