Upload the proposal as an .html page on your server and link the proposal.html page to the zzz.html AND your homework.html page. Include subject, content, planned navigation, do a quick flow chart if you like or explain the flow, theme, colors, purpose, target audience, etc. I understand that we have not yet covered forms, frames, behaviors, library items, templates, layers and CSS so submit your proposal knowing that we will be discussing these features which will be incorporated into your final design.
- subject - a website for an organization of which I am a member - National Active and Retired Federal Employees
- plan - prepare a sketch of an idea to present to the Executive Board at the next meeting - 11/15/06
- content - The purpose will be to create a website design that the members will use, and will be easy enough for other members to keep ongoing.
- planned navigation - HOME,
Meetings,
News (national) , Events (local), Contact Us; also, About Us and Links.
- do a quick flow chart if you like or explain the flow
- theme - This will be a business website, so it will need a professional appearance. It will cater to older adults, so it will need to be accessible, readable, and easily negotiated. Finally, it will need to be inviting, inspiring, and inclusive.
- colors - Red, white, and (navy) blue seems appropriate for an organization for retired government employees. However, this must not be cloying, or excessive. It should be an interesting challenge to see what I come up with!
- purpose - The site should be one that welcomes new members, describes the purpose of the organization, introduces our officers, notifies members of urgent or interesting news, showcases the work and fun of membership, and inspires increased participation in our local chapter of this organization.
- target audience - the members of the
National Active and Retired Federal Employees organization
- process -
- First, I will see what other chapter websites look like (in process).
- Then, I'll look into hosting services (in process).
- I'll try out some templates, and create a few versions of how the site would look (in process).
- I'll ask for input from some of the organization's current officers (to be done)
- Next, I'll prepare a mock website, seek input from my coding buddies, and then present a proposal to the local chapter (to be done).
- Finally, I'll make any necessary changes, and then I'll present my website for a grade (to be done).
