Martha's COIN 74 Week 4 Exercises
Day Six - A Photo Album!
Extend Your Learning: * Optional (extra points)
Lesson 4 Challenge: - you will need to download a free version of fireworks if you don't already have it on your machine.
I d ownloaded Fireworks, but found it VERY confusing! Now I need to take a class in using it...
Create a new folder called album in the Site Files pane of the Site Window. Insert about 10-20 .gif and/or .jpg images in the folder. You can create your own images or get sample images from corbis, tonystone, photodisc sites or other image sources on the web.
I chose to use photos of my Mom making peanut brittle last December.
Create a Photo Album using Dreamweaver's Commands Menu = Commands>Create Web Photo Album.
Select the folder called album as your destination folder.
I had to create the album about 4 times! The biggest problem was that the photos were too big. I had sized them to be 570 pixels high. Normally, that's a good size for photos on a web page, but with the navigational tools Dreamweaver sets up, they were too big - you had to scroll down to see the entire image. So, I re-sized the images to 500, and then again to 450. The results were worth it. CHECK IT OUT!
After the album is created:
Still to Do: I want to rename the images instead of using the picture # as titles underneath each slide. Ideally, I'll like to describe each step of the process. Maybe I could put a background color on the pages. And, I'd like to include the recipe.
