Day 4 and Day 5 - 05/30-31/06
Amsterdam was a delight. It's no wonder they call it the Venice of the North, with all its canals, and the bicycle capitol of Europe. We saw plenty of both in our short stay in the Netherlands. On Tuesday we took a tour of the canals as soon as we arrived in Amsterdam. On Wednesday we had a brief bus tour of the city, and a delightful visit to one of the city's famous diamond centers. What a tour they put on! In fact, the couple celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary found it a perfect time to say "I love you" with a gift of diamonds.
The afternoon was even more interesting - those of us who decided to pay extra for an excursion to Volendam got a treat of a lifetime. Gouda cheese, wooden shoes, an active windmill, and more! Come along and see for yourself...
